Salvatore Ferragamo is best known for the shoes they make, but it’s about time their colognes get recognition. In the past, the Italian design house has created a range of colognes – F by Ferragamo Black in 2009, and more recently Attimo Pour Homme in 2011 – but it’s 2013 Acqua Essenziale that stands out from their collection.
The first thing that hits you when applying Acqua Essenziale, is that it smells both aromatic and freshly spicy. The mixture of the top notes – grapefruit, mint and tree leaf – give a refreshing aroma that’s ideal for Summer. The top notes don’t linger for too long – about an hour max – before it turns into its warmer middle notes of lavender and rosemary which balance out the citrus top notes. Once this settles, the woody base of Patchouli and Vetiver kicks in for a masculine touch.
If you’re looking for a Summer cologne, Acqua Essenziale is a suitable option since it’s refreshing and light. In our minds, it’s very similar to Bleu de Chanel although more citrusy. Acqua Essenziale is much more of a day time cologne, so if you’re looking for a night time cologne there are better options (for example, Narciso Rodriguez for Him).
