Here at HommeStyler we often gush and ooh-and-ah over a lot of good looking shoes, but in most cases, there isn’t much more than what meets the eye. After all, a handsome pair of shoes often nothing more. So when we were told that an Australian brand had developed smart-looking shoes with comfort and support in mind, we were intrigued.
Bared shoes have been around for a while, but they’ve only recently ventured into men’s shoes where they have a range of boat shoes, dress shoes and desert boots. Their claim to fame is that they are designed by a podiatrist and made to be comfy and supportive without looking daggy. (Crocs and Brikenstock should take a leaf out of Bared Shoes’ book.)
Bared Shoes Director Anna Baird, who doubles up as the brand’s designer, spent over three years of developing their famous footbed which is designed to help arch support and take pressure off foot joints. In her words, “What sets us apart is that every Bared shoe comes with the all-important arch support. The foam cushioning helps take pressure off foot joints and all shoes are leather-lined allowing them to be breathable and extremely durable, and of course fashionable”.
For those who need orthoses when walking, you’ll be glad to hear that a lot of styles from Bared Shoes allow you to remove the footbed to accommodate orthotic needs.
Of the several styles offered by Bared Shoes, we’re liking the blue nubuck desert boots. That’s why we’re also giving a pair away – all you need to do is share this post on Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #baredshoes or just email us and tell us what you look for in a pair of sensible and comfortable shoes.
