Top 5 Designer Penny Loafers For Men This Season

top designer penny loafers for men
While it looks similar in construction to any lace-less shoes, the penny loafer has become synonymous with the American private school aesthetic since the 1930s. Over time, the refined scholarly appeal of the penny loafer has extended beyond the US and many men across the globe now find the classic shape of the shoe to be a must-have in their wardrobe. We couldn't agree more - the penny loafer should be a staple in any gentleman's wardrobe - and so, when investing in the perfect designer penny loafer for your wardrobe, it should fit three criteria: quality construction, classic shape and use of the best leather. The following designer penny loafers for men all fit these criteria in different ways and...

New Balance Re-issues Iconic 997 Sneakers

New Balance 997 sneakers 5
The New Balance 997 sneaker first hit the market back in 1991. Sportswear companies re-issuing iconic retro sneakers is nothing new - the Air Jordan III and Nike Flyknit Racer are two recent example which spring to mind - but they often produce lackluster results. It's as if the brands already know that sneaker-enthusiasts will rush to buy the re-issued sneakers, and therefore don't bother putting too much thought into how their aesthetic or comfort. Luckily, with the recently re-issued New Balance's 997 sneakers, it's a different story. Originally released in 1991, the New Balance 997 is a favourite amongst sneaker collectors and it was only a matter a time before it came back. Staying true to the...

Bared Shoes

bared shoes
Bared shoes were designed by podiatrist Anna Baird Here at HommeStyler we often gush and ooh-and-ah over a lot of good looking shoes, but in most cases, there isn't much more than what meets the eye. After all, a handsome pair of shoes often nothing more. So when we were told that an Australian brand had developed smart-looking shoes with comfort and support in mind, we were intrigued. Bared shoes have been around for a while, but they've only recently ventured into men's shoes where they have a range of boat shoes, dress shoes and desert boots. Their claim to fame is that they are designed by a podiatrist and made to be comfy and supportive without looking...

Best Online Stores for Mens Shoes

best online stores for mens shoes
If there's one menswear saying that I truly believe, it's that you can judge a man by his shoes. A lot of men make the mistake of buying cheap shoes thinking that they shouldn't spend too much on something that's going to get kicked around. But the truth is, what you put on your back may go out of fashion and style someday, and so it's the shoes you wear that speaks volumes about what kind of man you  really are. In this post I've rounded up some of the best online stores when it comes to men's shoes. When I'm talking about shoes, I don't mean sneakers, sandals or espadrilles, but shoes suitable for formal occasions and work - monk...

5 Best Brogues for this Summer

Best Brogues for summer mens
There's nothing more we like than a good pair of brogues. Timeless, classic and effortless are some of the key adjectives we'd use to describe the brogue shoe. Not only are they a great way to upgrade an outfit, but they're also a must-have investment to any man's wardrobe. You can wear them up with suit pants for a formal look, or wear them down with rolled up jeans. Unfortunately, the formality associated with brogues confuses many men into thinking it is mostly suited to colder seasons. In fact, brogues can easily be integrated into your summer wardrobe. Here are some of our favourite pairs of brogues for this summer season.   Mark McNairy Suede Wingtip Brogues Suede brogues...

The Junya Wantanabe x Tricker's collaboration has been a hit in menswear circles. What do you get when you put a Japanese avant-garde designer and an historic shoemaker together? You get something like this navy toe cap brogue boot by Junya Wantanabe and Trickers. As the protege of Comme des Garcon's Rei Kawakubo, Junya Wantanabe has always had a thing for creative collaborations and whilst the decision to create a series of boots with English shoemaker Trickers maybe unusual, it's been a big hit in menswear circles. How To Wear Sneakers With Suits

how to wear sneakers with suit men 8
There's a growing trend amongst men to wear bold sneakers wherever they go. Whether it's matched with denim or shorts, it seems the brighter and wilder the sneakers are, the better. However, many men don't wear sneakers with their suit. Of course, for decades, men have been told to wear proper leather shoes with our suits, and hence we've been conditioned to stay away from pairing sneakers with suits. Luckily, this is starting to change. In the last two seasons, we've seen menswear designers like Valentino shake up the suit and creatively pair them with colourful sneakers. On paper, it doesn't seem to work, but in reality, it can be an effortless to change up your suit - if you know...

Palladium Oxidized Metallic Suede Boots

When shopping for a new pair of boots, one of the first requirements should be how versatile they are. Ideally, they can be worn with chinos, denim and shorts. If they looks sophisticated enough for work, that's even better. In my hunt for a new pair of boots, I came across these Palladium suede boots, made from a metallic leather with a details plaid lining. Personally, I'm not a fan of suede footwear - they just don't last in the rain/wet weathers - but this pair has a rubber sole, which is a big tick in my eyes. Of course, you could also use special water repellent like Nikwax if you're still worried. SHOP...

Marc Jacobs Croc Print Leather Sneakers

Marc Jacobs mens boots croc
It seems that of late, I've only had eyes for exotic prints like ostrich, snake, alligator and crocodile. (Take this and this for example.) I'm not why, but I'd put it down to their unexplainable quality that makes me want to reach out and touch it. I mean, look at this Croc Print Leather Sneakers by Marc Jacobs - if I saw it in store, I'd probably rub my greedy little hands all over it. Made in an olive tone, the shoes have a contrast leather toe cap, tonal lace up closures as well an embossed logo patch at the tongue. Match it with a pair of denim and white shirt and you've got a winning combo. [$575 SHOP] ...
