For the first time, Givenchy has released its Men’s Resort collection. It’s a bold move from the French brand and it reflects an attempt to capitalize on its new-found publicity as megastars like Kanye West seem to wear Givenchy almost everywhere.
The Givenchy Men’s Resort 2013 Collection is typical of the brand’s recent aesthetics with a focus on psychedelic graphics, simple layering with a darker edge.
Creative director Riccardo Tisci intends to invest in Givenchy Men’s and the pre-collection marks his attempt to communicate a personal and recognizable wardrobe for men.
Known for maintaining a narrative across his collections, the Givenchy Men’s Resort 2013 Collection explores the idea of childhood memories with a military twist. Army-inspired prints are toned down with pastels and light pinks and are paired with leather gladiator sandals. T-shirts are adorned with images of WWI planes and stars – no doubt a key piece fashionistos will want their hands on. Tartan shirts are donned under oversized tees with black Bermuda shorts adding a streetwear flavour to a wearable collection.
