What do you get when you put a Japanese avant-garde designer and an historic shoemaker together? You get something like this navy toe cap brogue boot by Junya Wantanabe and Trickers. As the protege of Comme des Garcon’s Rei Kawakubo, Junya Wantanabe has always had a thing for creative collaborations and whilst the decision to create a series of boots with English shoemaker Trickers maybe unusual, it’s been a big hit in menswear circles. (The boot is even sold out at one of our favourite menswear online shops, Tres Bien)
As traditional shoemakers, Tricker’s has always made their shoes by hand and this classic brogue is no exception. It’s simple and yet a little rugged. The premium navy leather is oiled to perfection and is resistant to liquids and dirt. Distinctive perforated details and serrated edges are seen throughout, whilst a storm welt and thick rubber lug sole finish the boot.
