On a recent trip to Hong Kong, I searched high and low for an investment bag – the type where you can use literally hundreds of time and won’t go out of style. I went from shopping mall to shopping mall, keeping a mental note on the bag’s various leathers, designs, dimensions, pockets etc. After a week of searching, I satisfyingly ended up leaving Loewe’s Hong Kong flagship store with their Valencia 24 Hour Bag in hand.
Crafted from Loewe’s Valencia range of leather – the equivalent of Louis Vuitton’s Nomade – this is one bag that’s built to last. Whilst it looks more like a briefcase than a bag, it functions as an all-in-one. Personally, best features of the bag would be the design – it’s understated, elegant and yet isn’t too tradition – secondly, the well-considered interior with its multiple pockets, and lastly, the luxurious leather that only gets better with age. I can imagine me being 50 and still using this bag.
The versatility of the Loewe Valencia 24 Hour Bag is also another big plus. When worn with a suit, it’s suitable for the boardroom, when work with white shorts and a black linen shirt, it’s perfect for a weekend getaway.
Measuring a spacious 42 cm x 29 cm, there are two compartments to the Valencia 24 Hour Bag, one for the laptop and the other for your general goodies and documents. As this Loewe bag is lined with soft napa leather (which comes from lamb), it’s remarkably light and durable on the inside.
Costing more than your average designer bag (at £ 2,900), Loewe’s Valencia 24 Hour Bag isn’t priced for everyone, but it’s definitely built to last. It comes in black and brown.
UPDATE: Closeups of the Valencia 24 Hour Bag – apologies for the poor lighting. This is the bag in brown leather.
