With New York Fashion Week in full bloom, we’ve decided to share the designs we like this season (so far) and the trends to expect in Spring/Summer 2012. If, like us, you’re based in the southern hemisphere, then you’re in luck, ’cause you can immediately integrate these looks into your wardrobe.
Monochrome
Lots of designers were showing monochrome in their ensembles, including Richard Chai, Duckie Brown and Tim Hamilton. The key to the looks were the mixture of shades within the same colour. The variations in fabric also provide subtle variations and gave their looks a muted elegance.
One thing that some designers did to the liven up their monochromatic looks was to introduce a complimentary colour in the form of accessories, such as shoes, scarves and belts. Nicholas K did this particularly well by layering muted colours on white. On the other hand, designers like Tim Hamilton included a dash of print and detail in the lapels.
