Review: Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Product Range
Kiehl’s sells their Facial Fuel as a product range for men who want their skin care to be simple and effective. The range’s tag line is “energizing skincare for men” and all its products contain various ingredients that help awaken and brighten dull-looking skin. Each of the products target various skin concerns and they’re reviewed below.
Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash
When choosing a face wash, the most important thing is to find one that suits your skin type. Whilst the Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash says it’s for all skin types, those with sensitive skin may find this product a bit too strong since it contains Corn Germ Oil and Fragrance. This is more suited for menw ith oily skin since this is a strong cleanser. It doesnt’ leave the skin feeling too dry although the lemon and orange juice in this product might sting the skin, especially if you have any razor bumps or broken skin.
Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub
Kiehl;s Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub is aptly named since the caffeine in it helps awaken skin and reduce puffiness in the eyes. It achieves the results it claims for most skin types, but whilst it’s rare people will be sensitive to caffeine, less can be said of the apricot kernel oil in it. Those with sensitive or broken skin should look for cleansers designed for their skin type instead.
Facial Fuel Transformer
This is a lightweight moisturizing gel that’s recommended for those with oily skin. It contains Squalane, a natural oil derived from olives which helps combat tired looking skin and oversized pores (a common problem for men with oily skin). Kiehl’s claims the Facial Fuel Transformer helps “fight the first signs of ageing” and whilst this is possible with its use of Vitamin E, a notably antioxidant, the truth is there are many other products that give better results for your money.
Facial Fuel Anti Wrinkle Cream
This is another moisturizer in the Facial Fuel range. Compared to the Facial Fuel Transformer, this is a much better product if your primary concern is fine wrinkles and lines since it contains two forms of Vitamin C. Note that to get the best results, this anti-wrinkle cream should be worn only during the day and underneath your sunscreen. Dermatologists have proven that Vitamin C helps increase the effectiveness of sunscreen, meaning you’ll be less susceptible to the sun’s harmful UV rays.
For some reason Kiehl’s decided to make this third moisturizer in range – we can’t understand why. Whilst it feels more lightweight on the skin than the other two (above) moisturizers, the ingredients list shows it’s inferior in formulation. The product claims to improve skin texture and fatigue, and whilst to an extent, the Chestnut extract and antioxidants achieves this, it’s no where near effective as the Facial Fuel Anti Wrinkle Cream.
Facial Fuel Eye De-Puffer
This eye de-pufffer is a convenient addition to your office drawer. It has a compact and practical packaging that allows you to apply the product easily to puffy and dark undereye circles – great if you had a long night. We like how the product glides effortlessly on the skin. It has a refreshing cooling effect that provides quick hydration to the sensitive undereye area.
Kiehl’s has a reputation for using proven ingredients in their skincare products and their Facial Fuel product range demonstrates exemplifies this. However, we’d advise against using the entire range in place of your skincare routine since the products all target problematic areas – like dull skin and undereye circles. Instead, choose the one or two products that directly target your skin concerns. Double thumbs up to the Facial Fuel Eye De-Puffer.
