With rising temperatures across Sydney, it’s a clear sign summer is near – and what better way to celebrate than with one of the city’s hottest events, Water Polo by the Sea. The premier event of the summer season returns with a new location at Campbell’s Cove in Sydney Harbour for its fifth consecutive season this December.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday 19th December, featuring a showcase match between the Australian Sharks and the Italian Men’s Water Polo Team as both prepare for the Rio Olympics 2016.
In previous years Water Polo by the Sea was held at Icebergs in Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach, but greater demand for the event has meant organisers need to look for an alternate venue.
“Water Polo by the Sea celebrates the athleticism of the sport in a relaxed atmosphere, combining world-class sportsmen, a spectacular location by the sea, great music, hospitality and the colours of summer to create a unique event on the Australian sporting and social calendar,” said Water Polo by the Sea founder Thomas Whalan.
Hospitality vessels will be added to Campbell’s Wharf to create a unique spectator experience, including a VIP space located on the top deck and a custom built, shark proof water polo field dropped into Sydney Harbour to create the playing space.
Water Polo by the Sea is the brainchild of Thomas Whalan, former captain of the Australian Sharks who represented Australia in over 300 water polo games over his career, including four Olympic Games and five World Championships.
Tickets are available online, ranging from $29.95 for children 14 years and under, right up to $250 for premium tickets at the Captains Club.
