I recently had the pleasure of attending a Wild Turkey event which celebrated Father’s Day and the release of the Diamond Anniversary Edition Wild Turkey Bourbon at Sydney’s prestigious Rockpool restaurant. The event was hosted by Gruppo Campari brand ambassador, Oliver Stuart and organised by the Trish Nicol Agency.
While the three-course dinner was obviously fantastic – Chirashizushi for the entree, braised beef cheek sukiyaki for dinner, followed by Valrhona chocolate and macadamia dessert – the standout was a taste of the limited edition Bourbon. The Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary mingles 13 to 16-year-old whiskies to create an extremely curated whiskey that has tantalizing notes of caramel and vanilla, with a rich and spicy oak finish. The Wall Street Journal says it better than we do when they describe it as “a world class Bourbon”.
The Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary was created by Eddie Russell in honour of his father, Bourbon industry icon Jimmy Russell, who is known as ‘Buddha of Bourbon’.
“My father taught me everything I know, so I wanted to craft something that reflected all of the invaluable knowledge he passed on to me; something that was worthy of one of the greatest Master Distillers of all time,” Eddie said.
The event was not just memorable for the fine company and drinks, it was also because it celebrated Father’s Day in a very refined manner. It was a toast to the Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary Bourbon and to Eddie Russell for crafting such a unique product in honour of his father.

How to make a Forgiven Whiskey Sour with almond Cynar foam:
For the sour:
- 40ml Wild Turkey Forgiven
- 20ml fresh lemon juice
- 40ml fresh blood orange juice
- 20ml sugar syrup (1:1)
- Shake and strain over ice in a medium size highball
For the foam:
- 300ml Almond Milk
- 120ml Cynar
- 30ml moscavado sugar syrup (1:1)
- 2 egg whites
Mix all into a soda siphon with a single N02 bulb and rest in the fridge for 3 hours.
Layer foam gently over the top of the drink. Garnish with a blood orange twist.
